We are currently looking for a Technical Sales Manager to join one of our clients on a permanent basis.
The company is a worldwide designer, manufacturer of specialist engineering equipment used in a wide range of applications including oil and gas, power generation and petrochemical ad this is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly expanding and successful organisation.
Based in their purpose built premises in Hinckley, Leicestershire, the role will involve managing the customer relationship and meeting customer expectations all the way from initial enquiry through to quotation and order receipt.
The successful applicant will have responsibility for managing existing customer relationships and actively identifying business development opportunities with both new and existing clients. They will be the first point of contact for customer enquiries and deal with the process from enquiry through to customer quote utilising the in-house software, price list and quoting support tools. The role will also include taking an active role in developing the sales budget delivering financial targets.
The main duties will include the following: –
* Working with Managing Director to prepare yearly sales budget and revisit/reassess quarterly.
* Ensuring actual sales performance meets or exceeds budget. This will include new business, historical and existing customer base.
* Revisiting dormant/historic UK accounts for new business opportunities and brief these into the business.
* Managing current customer’s contracts, requirements and continue to strengthen relationships.
* Obtaining knowledge in the application and general design of company products and ability to convey this in an effective manner to customers.
* Reviewing and understanding customer technical specifications related to product performance prior to briefing into the Managing Director and Engineering team.
* To be the initial technical contact point for enquiries and to drive proactive discussions with clients regarding future project pipelines.
* Using ‘in house’ engineering application software to select appropriate type of silencer to meet customers’ specifications.
* Creating an in-house estimating tool to ensure quotation process for standard parts runs smoothly with minimal engineering input.
* Creating and managing an updated price list to support the estimation process.
* Helping to manage the Request for Quote (RFQ) process with outsource sub-contract partners and negotiating final purchase price to ensure best commercial value.
* Preparing final sales submissions including margin levels and payment terms ahead of sign off by the MD/Sales and Commercial Manager.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, paint / finishing and experience in producing associated drawings
* Driving bid/no bid meetings and the commercial element of the contract review process.
* Managing the financial performance of the customer accounts via the finance team.
The successful applicant will be qualified to qualified to a minimum of HNC (preferably degree) in business or related discipline or have the equivalent level of experience and have a proven track record in a commercial engineering role. The ability to understand manufacturing processes, including fabrication, paint/finishing and experience in producing associated drawings is essential. Previous experience in products for inlet and exhaust systems for various rotating equipment is preferred but not essential. Candidates will ideally have experience of working with a SAP or related ERP system.
The role is a hybrid role with an equal split between home and office however it may involve some UK and overseas travel and so candidates must be flexible with regards to travel.
